Taste of Gower Oxwich 6 – Stripes on the Beach

Stripes of water and sand on the beach and stripes of cloud in the sky at Oxwich Bay (see below).

On my walk this week with the Taste of Gower walkers at Oxwich Bay, the walkers ahead of me stretch across the beach and as the sun comes round I find that using my zoom lens (a Canon 70-300 mm 1:4 – 5.6 IS USM for those of you who are interested) brings out the contrast of light and dark. This both emphasises the striped patterns on the beach and the shade of Oxwich point in the background.

Weird Findings on a Woodland Walk

On my walk in the woods this week I took a route I have not followed for a long time. I must have known that this weird old rusty abandoned pipe and the farm equipment was there because it has clearly been there for a long time – I guess I’d just forgotten.

Turn of the Lock

Having come full circle and arrived back at the blue footbridge and lock on my walk this week around part of the maritime quarter of Swansea, I focused my attention on the bridge and lock rather than the churning water of the river falling over the weir (see Monday’s post).

Carreg Cennen Castle

One of the final days of a beautiful Summer found us at Carreg Cennen Castle in Carmarthenshire, South Wales. It is a magnificent ruin sitting atop  a crag of rock looking over to the Black Mountain on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons.

The first image was taken on my iPhone and the second on my Canon 550D. The first needed some cropping and both needed some light adjustment.
