My Walk this Week – Taste of Gower 2017, Oxwich

ToG walking group

My walk this week is the first Taste of Gower walk of 2017 and took place at Oxwich where we walked through the burroughs (sand dunes with vegetation). The walk was led by James Malatynski and we had Charlotte Toft and Helen Nicholas from Gower Unearthed giving some informative talks along the way about the heritage of the area.

A sizeable group of people turned up for the walk which started and ended at the Oxwich Bay Hotel where we enjoyed tea and food afterwards. I had not been to these boroughs before and if it were not for the direction towards the sea was easily identifiable, I think it would be easy to get temporarily lost on the network of paths amongst the dunes. The walk took place in good weather and was very enjoyable – I shall be posting more about it throughout this week.

The Taste of Gower (ToG) walks are organised by Gower Landscapes Partnership and have been running for two years – hopefully they will continue throughout this year as well.

Gower Landscapes Partnership is supported by Heritage Lottery Fund and Natural Resources Wales
