On my walk this week I would like to show some of what we experienced and enjoyed during our time away in the last few weeks. Above is an unusual sight – it’s not often you find an old organ on a beach, but this was part of an art installation called Edge by two artists commissioned as part of the Spring Fling weekend event in South West Scotland. Jo Hodges and Robbie Coleman produced The EDGE TIDELINE on one of the beaches near where we were staying and we got there just in time to see it before they dismantled it all at the end of the weekend.
Taken from the accompanying booklet on the installation – “The EDGE tideline [. . .] contain fragments of stories. Some draw from the rich history of the area [. . . ]. Others reflect on strange happenings such as the “Solway Spaceman” supplemented by our imaginings [. . . ]”
All photos from my iPhone.
What an interesting installation! I’m glad you had the opportunity to check it out (and share your photos).
Thanks Wade. We just got there in the nick of time really but missed the other connected events over the weekend.
Wow! i would LOVE to have seen that.
You’ll have to visit Scotland next Spring, though I suppose, being a temporary installation, you would be unlikely to see the same thing. It’s a well worthwhile event all over Scotland each year.
Good to know about.
