Even towards the end of my walk round Lower Lliw Reservoir, the thaw was minimal. But as the snow gently melted new shapes and patterns were revealed. I particularly like the twisting twiddles of last years bracken.

I like the hanging leaves coated in snow. Are those oak? My tree identification skills are rusty and I never practiced them outside of the US! Regardless, they’re lovely. The bracken as well.
Thanks Wade. They are indeed oak leaves, although dry brown leaves hanging from a branch at this time of year I would normally expect to be beech. The edges are too lobed for them to be beech and having now looked at another, less close image from that shoot, I can confirm it is definitely oak.
