You can’t let the weather stop you when it comes to stone hunting or if you prefer, beach combing.
In fact wet weather can be a bonus as the colours will be highlighted by the water. I have been very selective in my choice of images below but perhaps the one I have titled “Inner Stone” is one of the most rewarding finds on this walk in wet weather while we were away in Scotland.
The standing rock – as I have called it rather than a standing stone – is remarkable too. It has always been there of course, throughout my life, but it is the fact that it stands naturally as a result of erosion (I assume) instead of being put there by neolithic or any other age of man.
