Monochrome Madness
In an additional post today, I would like to point you to this week’s Monochrome Madness post by Leanne Cole Photography where you will find one of my photos amongst a mosaic of others in this genre.
The image is one I took a few weeks ago on my iPhone using Camera Pro. If I remember rightly, it was Adobe Photoshop Express on the phone that I used in post-production.
Light and contrast was adjusted, a sepia filter tried out but discarded for manual colour and saturation adjustment, and finally some grain added.
Breakers Walk – A New StillWalks Video
This past week I have been showing a taster of this new StillWalks video. Now, here is the video itself. Please watch and if you can, use the expand button in the corner of the video to watch it full screen.
The video is nine minutes long, which is longer than many other StillWalks videos, but I hope that you will appreciate the reasoning for this and enjoy its full length. Comments are welcome.
The video was produced as part of a research project with Dr Cathy Treadaway for CARIAD at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
Cwm Nash Woodland
These photos are from a woodland on Bristol Channel coast of South Wales. I know the area in the Vale of Glamorgan from working there on a project a few years ago, but I had not been to this particular spot before.
The images form part of a new StillWalks video I was asked to produce as part of a research project being run by Dr Cathy Treadaway for CARIAD at Cardiff Metropolitan University. The project – “Walk and Draw for Health and Wellbeing” – is very much in keeping with my StillWalks philosophy and the video will be available to view at the end of this week.
The Second Surprise
My second surprise find in the old burnt out abandoned building I found while crossing a field on a recent evening walk were these old cars. I have some enquiries to make in order to find out what the car is. I thought about an MG Midget and a friend suggested a Sunbeam but if anyone out there recognises it as something else, please let me know in the comments.
Abandoned in a Field
It wasn’t just thistles in this field (see previous post). This abandoned and burnt out building held one or two surprises.
A tangled mass of rusty corrugated iron was the first.
Light, Shade and Colour
It was the shadow of the stamens on the petals that I really like about these shots of another beautiful flower from Swansea’s roadside verges. I like the contrast in the first image and the subtlety of the same shadow in more muted sunlight in the second.
