Show Time

Actually it’s not show time yet, not for the Pontarddulais Show anyway – that happens at the end of August and we have the Carnival before that in June.

I have put up this StillWalks video and photos because it was the starting point for the equestrian photography which I am doing again this year for Clydach Riding Club.

Here’s looking forward to a good Summer with fingers crossed.

Waiting and Watching – Riding Club Extras

Doing photography almost invariably involves time spent waiting. If others are involved in any way, this is inevitably the case and even if they are not, you often have to wait for the conditions to be right – the wind to drop, the sun to come out or whatever.

The extra shots I took on Sunday morning at Clydach Riding Club show jumping reflect some of that time – I wasn’t the only one waiting for the next event!

My horse show photography, including extras, can be seen and is for sale on the StillWalks PhotoShelter site.

Horsey horsey don’t you stop . . .

The season has started again – I spent the weekend doing equestrian photography for Clydach Riding Club. It was their second event of the year and the sun shone all day giving me sunburn on the back of my neck. Mostly I only do the CRC  shows but if anyone asks me to do any other equestrian photography, I am happy to do so. Check out StillWalks Equestrian.

I usually take some extra shots on these days – some of them are below. The last one looks like it is in the middle of being Photoshopped, but the horse box really was that colour!

Photos from the show can be seen at www.stillwalks.photoshelter.com

I have moved this part of the StillWalks photography shop to Photoshelter and will be moving the main StillWalks photography there as well. Until I do, all StillWalks photos for sale can be found at www.photoboxgallery.com/stillwalks

Hoofing It – A blog entry on the hoof

At the weekend I was busy again, this time with StillWalks Equestrian. Earlier this year I was asked if I would be interested in doing the photography for Clydach Riding Club and, what with nothing better to do at the weekends (ha, ha), I ventured on down to their new show field at Ynystawe.

I don’t have the best camera for this kind of work as the photography I do for StillWalks does not involve that many fast moving objects. However, I manage well enough and enjoy watching the events. Having watched my daughter riding for many years, it is very useful to have an understanding of what is going on. This also allowed me to appreciate the equestrian Olympic events that much more than I have in the past.

Here are some alternative shots from the weekend. The event photos can be seen here.

The Horses have It

StillWalks-Equestrian is a new website and service born from the interest taken in my photography for the production of StillWalks.

Ready and Waiting

Relaxing virtual walks for horses? – No 🙂 Maybe there will be some StillWalks made for horse riders in the future but they might require me to take along step ladders on production day in order to get the same sort of view point as the riders. In fact, many existing StillWalks routes have had evidence of horses along the way.

The sound of the show – One of the aspects of StillWalks I enjoy the most is sound recording. As yet, I have only done this at one show and I have not published the StillWalk produced. I look forward to the next opportunity as the sounds at a horse event are so distinctive. Here is a clip from the unpublished Bont Show Walk – remember, you’ll need to go to the blog to see (and hear) this clip.

Examples of photography for StillWalks-Equestrian can be seen on the website at www.equestrian.stillwalks.com with all images being available for sale at www.photoboxgallery.com/stillwalks-equestrian
