The inevitability of getting poured on can be seen from some way off. Not a hurricane but dramatic all the same and allowing a little time to get to shelter.
No chrome effect on these shots, just the colour of the day! The photos I have posted this week may show the wetter side of Galloway in South West Scotland but tomorrow’s will show another side to the story.
I think all residents of Wales finally give up waiting (either for the first or the umpteenth time) and decide to kit up and get out in spite of the rain.
Today was, unbelievably, dry and even sunny at times – but we had other things to do than go for a walk. However, yesterday was wet and we needed to get out of the house. So off we went to Lower Lliw Reservoir and in spite of the rain, had a really nice walk. It even dried up slightly towards the end as proved by these photos from my iPhone again.
I took these photos with my iPhone on a wet walk on the marshes this afternoon and now I’m trying out publishing this post from it as well.
It stopped raining for 5 minutes so I thought I’d get out quick – but I still got rained on. Mind you, 90 minutes without rain was asking a lot.
Happy Christmas !
Sunshine and rain– We’ve been away to foreign parts recently – well, France! More importantly, we managed to avoid much of the torrential rain in Britain during that period. Unbelievably, we arrived home to Britain and Wales to dry, sunny, hot weather – amazing 🙂 Here’s a lovely sunset from the other night to prove it.

Eerie Sounds – There were some strange sounds coming from the marshes and so I went to investigate . . .
Sorry to those of you who noticed the lack of a blog entry last week. Here are a couple of the many reasons for the omission.
Pant-y-Sais Fen – Last Friday I discovered this place by Jersey Marine near Swansea. This was part of a bird song identification walk with Bob Tallnack and others from the Gower Ornithological Society. It was most enjoyable in spite of the rain and the fen by Neath Canal is a beautiful place where I hope to do produce a StillWalk on some dry day in the future. More photos can be seen on Facebook.
You’ll need to click on the blog title in order to listen to the Chaffinch in this place as it can only be viewed on the actual blog.

York’s River Ouse oozes out – It was still raining when I attempted a production day in York last Sunday – the photos here show the evidence. Fortunately, Monday morning brought the sun with it and although the waters had not receded much, I was still able to get the images and sound I need to produce a new StillWalk.

If I were to associate a StillWalks with this blog entry, I think it would be Quarry Walk – Autumn Rain even though it is the wrong season.
Last month during a visit to the north of Scotland I recorded some interesting sound clips. There is a story attached to this visit and that will be published soon. In the meantime, these sounds and pictures give a little info on the Scottish weather during a mild winter. Remember, if you are reading this in your email, you will have to visit the actual blog to listen to the sound clips. You can also enjoy a sample StillWalk from this visit at http://youtu.be/nTsd_gz8Qmw
Well, maybe not daily, but I hope to put up interesting sound clips from everyday life along with an image or two. Here are a couple that I have recently put up on SoundCloud and Twitter (@stillwalks ) – why not follow me on these as well.
