Before and After – Post-production in iPhonography

Earlier this week I posted the images on the left of those below straight from my iPhone without any post-production adjustments. I hope you will agree with me that the adjusted versions are an improvement.

The photos were taken pretty much as snapshots. I did not spend any time in setting up the shots and next to no time looking at different angles or alternative compositions. The best work you’ll ever do in post-production will always be with those images that need least doing to them. It is useful, however, to be able to make some improvements to shots taken on the fly.

The photos were taken with the iPhone app ProCamera. Initial adjustments were made on the phone using the same app and further adjustments made in Adobe Lightroom followed by some sharpening and noise removal with Google’s Nik software.

Filtered Out – Not Overflowing

Images that didn’t make it into the Autumn Reservoir Walk I recently produced. It wasn’t that I was un happy with the composition or quality of the images – they were just not essential in describing the walk around the reservoir.

Filtered Out – Rain on Water

More images that didn’t quite make it into a recently produced StillWalks Autumn video fro Lower Lliw Reservoir near Swansea, Wales. More to follow through this week.

Reservoir Reflection

I had two shots like this for the “Summer Reservoir – Evening Walk” video and the choice of which one to use was not a difficult one to make. This one was looking in the opposite direction to which I was walking!

A Winter That Never Happened

We did not have Winter this year where I live – last Winter, however, was different.

Having said that, his new StillWalks video is obviously from last Winter. I have only just completed it and would like to present it as this week’s featured video before the we are completely out of the season that never happened.

This featured StillWalks video will be available on this blog all week and will then revert to a small sample version. The video features Lower Lliw Reservoir near Swansea, South Wales.

The video above is in 480p quality. You can use the Donate button in the sidebar on the right to pay however much you want and receive a high quality (720HD) download of this week’s featured StillWalks video. Click the image above to watch the video. DVD Collections are also available to order in the StillWalks Shop.

Swiss Valley, Llanelli

Why the area is called Swiss Valley, I do not know! It is clearly not in Switzerland but a beautiful area in South West Wales. The photos were taken on my iPhone – I love the snaking shape of the reservoir overflow but that particular image needed some work on it.
