My walk this week at Aberavon in south Wales started very gloomy with a strong sea fret masking the views. But it was still and quiet and one or two people were out and about in spite of the weather. As time went by, however, the mist lifted somewhat and a slightly clearer view over the bay to Swansea was revealed. It really was a most enjoyable walk and I went into the Health and Wellbeing fair (which was my original reason for going there) in a very healthy state of mind.
My walk this week was not quite circular but the end point at then of this Cwm Dulais track is only a few hundred metres from my starting point for the walk.

My walk this week ends with another cloudy sunset. We were mostly lucky with the weather on our Autumn holiday in Scotland. Of course I took many more pictures than I have shown here this week but these are a selection of the most enjoyable ones for our surroundings during that time.
As always with a Taste of Gower walk we ended our outing at Port Eynon with a visit to a local cafe or pub – in this instance it was The Ship Inn. I don’t know where the anchor came from but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were attributed to one of the smugglers’ ships that apparently used to frequent Port Eynon! That may be unlikely but if anyone does know where the anchor came from, please let me know 😉

A final example of sepia sunlight for my walk this week through woodlands at Stainton in the north east of England. The pale sepia effect on this image seemed to enhance the sense of Summer. This arc of pigeons arranged on the railings at the end of my walk this week in Roath Park, Cardiff, give the appearance of spectators at an event – but what is the event? I am pretty sure there was nothing going on out of our view here, that it is just a natural congregation of birds probably having a bit of siesta in the early afternoon, but your guess is as good as mine. Anyone got any suggestions?

To mark the end of each Taste of Gower walk we visit a local cafe, hence the name “Taste of Gower”. The Gower Landscape Partnership pays for the teas and coffees but there are always many other good things to be eaten as well, and that was no less the case for the Cariad Cafe in Penclawdd as it is for any of the other Taste of Gower walk locations.
