A Well Kept Secret

Not seeing the wood(s) for the trees is another expression that would perhaps describe what I felt about our discovery of a nearby woodland at the weekend.

We have lived here almost 30 years and there are many beautiful places we have seen both near and far in Wales and the UK but still we find that some of the most stunning beauty is virtually on our doorstep. It felt like it had been a very well kept secret so I am not going to reveal its name or location, but I think it is definitely going to be the subject of a new StillWalk the moment I get the opportunity.

Most StillWalks videos have a location button on the video page – but not all! Here, anyway, is a bit of iPhonography of the place.

Pink

Yesterday white, today pink – a couple more images from the Springtime StillWalk produced at Clyne Gardens, Swansea. If you would like to take a stroll through the gardens and hear the multitude of bird conversations, play the Park Walk video and don’t forget those viewing tips (see yesterday’s post).

Spring Gardens

Spring was late this year but that was not the case when this StillWalk was produced in Clyne Gardens, Swansea. Click the image or play button below to view the StillWalk and hear the numerous birds.

StillWalks videos are at their best when viewed in Full High Definition. You need to buy the videos to see them like this but whether you do or not, they will always be most enjoyed if you follow these viewing tips:

  1. Switch you mobile phone off or to silent.
  2. Click the play button on the video but then click pause. This will allow the video to load properly and should not stutter at all at the start.
  3. Click the Full Screen button in the bottom right hand corner of the video. Although the online versions will not be as crisp and clear as the Full HD, I hope you still enjoy them.

The gardens feature many different colours but the white flowers have it in this post. I am not sure which tree the blossom in images 2 and 3 is from. Perhaps someone else does?

A Walk in the Spring

If all has gone to plan, this is where I should have been at 5 AM this morning!

I checked that the Bluebells had not finished their stint for this Spring and looked at the weather forecast. All seemed good for an early morning start for a new StillWalks production at Penllergaer Woods on the outskirts of Swansea.

Spring has been very late this year and so even though we are heading towards Summer (fingers crossed), some of the trade marks of the season are still around us. I have produced StillWalks here in both Autumn and Winter and so when I have them for all the seasons, it will be good to review them all together.

If you go down to the woods today

This would be what you would find. This is from a little later in the year in fact but can be found at the Botanic Gardens in Wales.

It’s a little off the beaten track but makes for a slightly lengthier walk around Pont Felin Gât at the northern end of the gardens.

The photos are from my StillWalk video “Woodland Walk” in Summer and are available for sale at the StillWalks PhotoShelter site. The title on the video says it is Spring – it was late spring and felt like Summer on Production day.

Lakeside Walk

Over the next week I am mostly going to be looking at the National Botanic Garden of Wales or to be more precise, the StillWalks I have produced there.

This is the first of a selection of nine images from the Lakeside Walk and is available through Photo Sales.

If you are not living in Wales, then this would be one amongst many reasons to visit. If you do live in Wales and have not yet visited the gardens, then it’s about time you did 😉

Show Time

Actually it’s not show time yet, not for the Pontarddulais Show anyway – that happens at the end of August and we have the Carnival before that in June.

I have put up this StillWalks video and photos because it was the starting point for the equestrian photography which I am doing again this year for Clydach Riding Club.

Here’s looking forward to a good Summer with fingers crossed.
