Sepia Footbridge

I mostly work with colour images but now and then I find one that I think benefits from the monochrome treatment. I have a preference for the sepia effect but usually prefer to create this myself rather than use a ready made filter.

This footbridge is featured in the StillWalks video below – Troserch Woodland Walk – but not this shot of it and not in monochrome.

This monochrome (sepia) image is also featured in the Leanne Cole Photography’s Monochrome Madness blog post for today. Thanks, Leanne, for that – another great post 🙂

Old Wood

I don’t know how much, if any, of Troserch Woodland is ancient but it is a beautiful place to walk and the cycle of growth and decay is inevitable in all woodland let alone anywhere else.

Below are two more images that didn’t make it into the StillWalks video below – “Troserch Woodland Walk”

Horses at Sunrise

The Troserch Woodland Walk StillWalks video features a horse – but not this one! Perhaps more importantly, it features the sound of a horse in the early morning.

These are the first of a set of images that didn’t make it into the video which can be seen below.

Woodland Walk Video

“Troserch Woodland Walk” is a StillWalks video I produced one early morning last Summer.  I was looking through the images from this production recently and found a number that I like but that did not make it into the video. I thought I would showcase them this week, so watch this space!

Retreating from the Hurricane

Yesterday we felt the last remaining vestiges of Hurricane Bertha in the form of a brief sandblasting on the Millennium Park footpath on the seafront at Llanelli.

We were not long out of the car before we changed our minds about a place to go for a walk and headed for the woodland walk up to the reservoir in Swiss Valley instead.

The sand being blown off the beach felt like needles on the skin and although it wasn’t raining at the time, the locals clearly knew not to venture on the seafront when the wind is up as the place was empty of people. Swiss Valley on the other hand was relatively busy!

Walking Among the Flowers

Cow Parsley and Columbine – my StillWalks production along the “Floral Walk” at Pembrey Country Park in Carmarthenshire, Wales last Summer ended back in the car park which hidden in a clearing in the woods.

The walk was beautiful and the only thing that interrupted the peacefulness of the place was the intermittent sound of jet fighters flying overhead on exercises! As soon as I finish the video I will make it available on the StillWalks website and it may need to include the sound of those jet planes in places!

Playing Soldiers and Marking Time – Pembrey Seed Heads

We used to have games of “soldiers” with these Ribwort Plantains when we were young – trying in turn to knock the head off each others “soldier”. Perhaps decapitate would be a more accurate term!

And of course everyone tells the time by the Dandelion seed head – what other way is there to do it?

Flowers come in all shapes and sizes, colours and combinations – every plant has its own form. To my mind, the less flamboyant flowers of a pine are no less attractive than those with beautifully coloured petals.
