Hazy Day – A Local Landscape

We hadn’t had rain in this area for a while when I took these photos of the landscape around Swansea. I don’t know if it was atmospheric conditions, pollution or simply dust in the air, but it is not uncommon to have hazy days like this in South Wales, regardless of its reputation for continuous rain!

Thistles – another irresistible subject for photography!

These photos were taken on my Canon 550D with a Canon 70-300mm IS USM lens. However, it is also important for me to keep developing my skills with iPhone photography or iPhonography as it is often my phone camera that I have with me when out walking.

With so much to see, I wouldn’t want to miss an opportunity, yet at the same time, it is not practical to always have heavy camera slung over your shoulder.

Not Alone in the Wilderness

The sheep in this landscape enjoy the comfort of each others company in the wilderness of Galloway in SW Scotland . . . but the pheasant is asking for it as is typical of pheasants!

That Early Morning Mist

Sunlight was not the only element of the atmosphere on my early morning walks in Scotland. The sun had toy work at lifting the moisture in the air as well as lighting up the landscape.

These views are looking inland from Knockbrex Hill, Galloway.

That Early Morning Dew

Early morning sunlight, dew on the grass and flowers – what more could you ask for?

The Daffodils have been and almost gone at Easter time in Galloway, Scotland but the Bluebells are coming through and both the flowers and the grass look like they are revealing in the early morning sun.

Looking The Other Way – Local Landscape

To start this week I am looking again at the landscape around me. This early morning shot is looking the other way to that which was posted last week.

Looking north west from Graig Fawr the view takes in Carmarthenshire in late Autumn with the coniferous trees of the forest at Fforest on the left – see this week’s featured video below.

This week’s featured StillWalks video shows another representation of the woods in the previous featured video – the woods at Fforest in a snowy Winter.
