Most people would agree that there is not much beauty in an industrial landscape but regardless of that, I find myself fascinated by some of the structures, shapes, forms, textures and colours to be found there.
This elevated pipeline is one I have been intrigued by for many years as I have passed by in the car. I had the opportunity recently to stop and take photos of it and some of the other industrial buildings connected to it.
Behind the new apartments and Discovery Centre in the Millennium Coastal Park at Llanelli, there is another discovery to be made. Llanelli has recently been seeing some significant developments and they are good to see.
However, just because something is old and unused does not mean it has no interest. Walking back towards the Discovery Centre, the remains of industry in the area can be seen and I was drawn over to take a closer look. All photos taken on my iPhone.
This last shot is of one of the old hydraulic rams used with the dock gates in the old Llanelli dock yard.

Temenos by Anish Kapoor was erected in Middlesbrough about three years ago and I have been meaning to go take a look at it since then. As with Claes Oldenburg’s Bottle of Notes in yesterday’s post, there have been many photographs taken of this work of art – but these are mine!
It is an impressive structure which has the effect, as it should, of highlighting the sculptural appearance of many of the industrial structures around it (more of those tomorrow). In the background is Middlesbrough’s Transporter Bridge.
