Spring Gardens

Spring was late this year but that was not the case when this StillWalk was produced in Clyne Gardens, Swansea. Click the image or play button below to view the StillWalk and hear the numerous birds.

StillWalks videos are at their best when viewed in Full High Definition. You need to buy the videos to see them like this but whether you do or not, they will always be most enjoyed if you follow these viewing tips:

  1. Switch you mobile phone off or to silent.
  2. Click the play button on the video but then click pause. This will allow the video to load properly and should not stutter at all at the start.
  3. Click the Full Screen button in the bottom right hand corner of the video. Although the online versions will not be as crisp and clear as the Full HD, I hope you still enjoy them.

The gardens feature many different colours but the white flowers have it in this post. I am not sure which tree the blossom in images 2 and 3 is from. Perhaps someone else does?

A Walk in the Spring

If all has gone to plan, this is where I should have been at 5 AM this morning!

I checked that the Bluebells had not finished their stint for this Spring and looked at the weather forecast. All seemed good for an early morning start for a new StillWalks production at Penllergaer Woods on the outskirts of Swansea.

Spring has been very late this year and so even though we are heading towards Summer (fingers crossed), some of the trade marks of the season are still around us. I have produced StillWalks here in both Autumn and Winter and so when I have them for all the seasons, it will be good to review them all together.

The Ivies Have It

More dappled sunlight in these last images from the Clydach Riding Club show field – see earlier post this week for more.

The images below are available at the StillWalks PhotoShelter website – you’ll find these ones and others from this short series under Inter Hunt collection extras.

Wayside Wild Flowers

Following the footpath through the woods (see yesterdays post) I came across lots of these very common wild flowers, all of which I know well – except 3 and 4. What are they? Can anyone tell me?

Dappled Sunlight

The sun was shining for my equestrian photography at the Clydach Riding Club Working Hunter and Inter Hunt show at the weekend.

I often try to get a few shots in of the surroundings while I’m there – if there is the time. On this occasion there was and I wasn’t the only one hanging around and waiting the next event.

The images below are a just a few of what I found walking around the woods next to the show field. More to come in the next couple of days. All photos are available at the StillWalks PhotoShelter website – you’ll find these ones under Inter Hunt collection extras.

Carmarthenshire Countryside

On my way home from a new StillWalks production location in Carmarthenshire last week, I had to stop a couple of times to let other vehicles pass on a narrow single track road.

Despite having already spent the day taking photos and  field recording near Llanpumsaint, I took the opportunity to get one or two more shots of this beautiful part of Wales.

Mesmerising Water Wheel Patterns

Last Wednesday evening we went to Aberdulais Falls for the Green Routines exhibition opening which was about cutting carbon emissions.

Whilst there I took a couple of new photos and video clips on my iPhone which reveal some of the fascinating patterns of the drips thrown up by the waterwheel – they were mesmerising! Click to play the video below.

At C Turn Left – the sound of dressage

On Tuesday evening I was doing some equestrian photography of a small dressage show at Clydach Riding Club.

The judges of the dressage sit in their 4×4 to watch the riders and blow their horn to indicate that the rider should start. Every time they do this I jump out of my skin. On Tuesday evening I was recording some of the sounds of the show. These include the background sound of traffic from the A4067 but this could never drown out the birds.

I am sure the judges had a laugh when, with my headphones on as they beeped their horn, I very visibly jumped. I have toned it down in this recording.

And for the field recordists out there, you can hear more on SoundCloud.

The equestrian photography can be found on PhotoShelter.
