Wayside Wild Flowers

Following the footpath through the woods (see yesterdays post) I came across lots of these very common wild flowers, all of which I know well – except 3 and 4. What are they? Can anyone tell me?

The images below are available at the StillWalks PhotoShelter website – you’ll find these ones under Inter Hunt collection extras.

  1. I believe both of your unknowns are some sort of Caryophyllaceae (carnation family). The white looks similar to sandwort…the green looks like a Schiedea genus… I think you could start with Caryophyllaceae and go from there! Great photos!

    • Thank you. I’ll try to check this out. The second of the two images is clearly after the plant has flowered – that’s what it looks like to me anyway 🙂

  2. ..or the white one is part of the Rosaceae family…I’m not by my ID book…but when I am, I will look it up — cause now I really want to know! ^_^
