Show Time

Actually it’s not show time yet, not for the Pontarddulais Show anyway – that happens at the end of August and we have the Carnival before that in June.

I have put up this StillWalks video and photos because it was the starting point for the equestrian photography which I am doing again this year for Clydach Riding Club.

Here’s looking forward to a good Summer with fingers crossed.

Windy Walk, Dorset

Not everybody likes the wind but I, personally, don’t have a problem with it – I even like it on occasion.

This StillWalk takes place on a very windy hillside in Dorset, S.W. England. There is not much more sound in it than the wind!

What am I saying, of course there is – my footsteps walking through grass or on a lane, opening and closing gates, climbing over stiles – and of course the wind sounds themselves change with its strength, the kind of trees around, my position in relation to it and the landscape.

Dorset

This is where I will be today – a windy(?) Dorset. I took this a while back now and it was a dull and very windy day.

It is a very “English” landscape, quite painterly!

Wind and Rain

Yesterday gave us a return to the wind and rain as can be seen and heard in these photos and sound clips taken in my studio.

Waiting and Watching – Riding Club Extras

Doing photography almost invariably involves time spent waiting. If others are involved in any way, this is inevitably the case and even if they are not, you often have to wait for the conditions to be right – the wind to drop, the sun to come out or whatever.

The extra shots I took on Sunday morning at Clydach Riding Club show jumping reflect some of that time – I wasn’t the only one waiting for the next event!

Netting Patterns – Extras from the Riding Shows

Whenever I am doing equestrian photography I like to try and find a little time to take some extra shots of the things around the show field.

Last weekend I was there in time to take a short walk around the adjacent woods and the first thing I came across was this netting caught in some branches – it had been a windy week! The pattern of the netting seemed to echo the patterns in the trees and, perhaps because I am a tapestry weaver, I was intrigued by the effect it had blowing in the wind – quite ethereal really.

The Bluebells I found further along the path were more traditionally attractive 🙂
