Urban Abstract

Black and white / monochrome? You might expect these images to have been produced in monochrome but in fact the last one is the only one that I felt merited the change from colour.

I like the subtleness of the colour in the first two and although I tried the third in B&W and made the necessary adjustments, I found the blue at the bottom of that tyre well to be just right along with the a-concentric curves of the layered rubber.

All images taken on my iPhone with ProCamera.

Black and Blue

The abstract patterns of water in the River Morlais which runs through Troserch Woodland in Carmarthenshire, Wales.

If I had used these images, it would have been in the second StillWalks video I made in the Troserch area. The first was through the woodland (see below) and the other was walking from the woodland, across the fields by the river and back to civilisation.

Abstract in Nature – Is there a face in there?

I am currently working on the post-production for a StillWalks video in Cwmdonkin Park in Swansea. It is a while since I was able to look at the photos and I was surprised to come across the image below. It is not one that I am likely to use in the video but I love the abstract nature of this tree bark.

The colour and texture make it a painting for me, one which makes me feel a little uneasy! Is that a face in there? Can you see it?

Constructing and Constructed Architecture

I love the complex patterns created by the scaffolding on this construction site in Swansea. I have no idea what the new building will look like but it will be sitting beside the interesting patterns to be seen in the design of the BT tower across the road.

The BT tower is not a particularly attractive building – it looks a bit like something you would need to plug in for your phone. There are, however, many fascinating shapes, patterns, reflections to be seen in its surfaces and structure.

Abstract Patterns and Waiting for Pizza

I like the patterns that can be seen in some of the architecture of Park Tawe in Swansea but the Deep Pan Pizza Company left these premises some time a go, and however visually interesting abandoned buildings can be,  it is always a bit sad to see the results of the unwanted.

We ate there only once and had to wait so long for our meal to arrive that it was unlikely that we would have returned. Was it the same for others?

Abstract and Monochrome

If you have seen the posts earlier this week showing various aspects of the architecture of the ATRiuM building in Cardiff, you may recognise these images.

The first is one of the negative shapes formed by the spiral staircase – I darkened the form itself in order to emphasise the shape.

The second is a section of the buildings around The Big Sleep hotel building – changing from colour to monochrome in Adobe Lightroom didn’t make much difference but I did add the grain effect.
