Another from the Garden – Amelanchier

This and yesterday’s photo were actually taken two weeks ago just before we went away for a break. We were hoping that they would still be here for us when we got back. The Cherry and the Amelanchier have got to be two of our favourites in the garden!

White Bluebells or Blue Bluebells

Spring is the only season left for me to produce a video from Lower Lliw Reservoir. I am hoping that now that the bluebells are coming out in our garden, there may also be some showing themselves at the reservoir.

I wonder if they will be white bluebells or blue bluebells?

Photos were taken on my iPhone 5c.

A Day in the Woods

The woodland management day I went on at Coeden Fach consisted partly of a tour around the woodland to see some the ways in which Dai, from Coeden Fach, manages the 9 acres they have near near Bishopston, Swansea.

This woodland is managed for a range of resources and activities but I think if you wanted to harvest some wild garlic, this would be a good place to do it! The scent was powerful to say the least but the taste of the flower heads was something else – delicious ūüôā

Garlic, Celandine, garlic, Wood Anemone, more garlic, Snow Drops were amongst those hundreds of different plants and trees we came across in the woods. All photos taken on my iPhone 5c.

And the sounds? Listen below to the birds of Bishops Wood.

Spring Sights and Sounds at Clyne

This week’s featured StillWalks video – a walk through Swansea’s Clyne Gardens.

The video is set a few weeks ahead of the current date in terms of the time of year but the flowers and activity of the birds celebrate the beautiful sunny weather of Spring with gusto and are a welcome change to the wild, wet and windy weather we had through Winter.

Plants in the Glasshouse – Absorbed in iPhonography

I was absorbed in taking the photos and absorbed by the look of the plants but I made a mistake, one I make too often! I forgot to get all the information I would want about the things I was photographing – information I would want when writing this post.

I would like to be able to tell you what these fascinating and exotic plants are but all I can say is that they are in the Great Glasshouse in the National Botanic Garden of Wales. I can also tell you that the first photograph was taken in JPEG format (see yesterdays post for info on formats), and the second in TIFF.

Unfortunately that probably doesn’t give you information that you really want whether you are interested in photography or not, so I must apologise for the omission of this information and ask if anyone knows what they are, to post it in the comments. Thank you.

Pink – Botanic Gardens, Swansea

More questions of identity – I knew the yellow flowers in yesterday’s post from the Botanic Gardens in Swansea, but I do not know any of these. I am sure I have seen them all before but do not know their names. Somebody help, please!

Yellow – Botanic Gardens, Swansea

These are for my daughter who is 22 today! Happy Birthday Ellen ūüôā

Identity – Unlike yesterday’s post, I know these flowers in the Botanic Gardens in Swansea, at least generally if not specifically! The first is a Day Lily, the third, a Rose and the last a Japanese Anemone.

And the second? An Aster I think! Can anyone confirm that and / or identify the Rose or the Lily?
