While the day was calm for our memorial for walk leader Mike Aspland and to raise funds for the Old Mill Foundation cancer hospice, there was enough lift for the soaring of hang gliders to take place in this popular spot for the activity – Rhossili Down at the end of the Gower Peninsula. Growing Patterns
My walk this week as a memorial for walk leader Mike Aspland and a fund raiser for the Old Mill Foundation cancer hospice was at a time when the farmers were very active in the fields. Becalmed
The day was calm for the memorial walk for Mike Aspland to raise funds for the Old Mill Foundation cancer hospice and the sea was becalmed. The light and gentle patterns on the water along with the almost non existent change between sea and sky illustrate the atmospheric conditions perfectly. If you would like to donate to the Old Mill Foundation, please visit their website and click the “Donate” button.Continue reading

Hopefully it is sturdy enough to withstand the attentions of the alpacas and open enough to allow the wind through – at least until the next time I am able to work on it.Continue reading
Woodland Wandering
Woodland wandering on my walk this week at The Waterside-Felindre was like doing some “forest bathing”. This is something I have been aware of for some time now but the term is not one that I like very much – to me it sounds a little bit corny (no offence intended to forest bathers, or tree huggers for that matter). Whatever the name given, there is no doubt in my mind about the benefits of walking in woodland but I can imagine it would not suit everybody.Continue reading
My Walk this Week – Waterside Woodland
My walk this week is another waterside woodland walk. More specifically, this walk was one with a different purpose to my usual health and wellbeing and observation walks. Visual and aural observation was certainly a part of it as I was looking for potential natural material for a weaving frame. The woodland in question is at The Waterside-Felindre, a place I have presented on this blog on a few occasions, though I hope always in a different way or showing different aspects of the place.Continue reading
