Woodland wandering on my walk this week at The Waterside-Felindre was like doing some “forest bathing”. This is something I have been aware of for some time now but the term is not one that I like very much – to me it sounds a little bit corny (no offence intended to forest bathers, or tree huggers for that matter). Whatever the name given, there is no doubt in my mind about the benefits of walking in woodland but I can imagine it would not suit everybody.
The practice of “Shinrin-yoku” was developed in Japan and is a form of forest therapy but if you check it out on Wiki, note that there are a number of issues about the page.
While the practice of “forest bathing” may relate well to the benefits to be gained from StillWalks walking sessions and videos, StillWalks’ development of sensory awareness and meditative focus on your surroundings or a StillWalks video can help you to benefit from other place as well, including urban or build environments.
Great shots Alastair – not easy getting good compositions in woodland clutter, but you’ve pulled it off here.
Thanks you a much appreciated comment from who clearly appreciates the issue.
