Iron standings, rusty rings and other objects – these are from a short stretch of the Scottish shoreline which I was walking along last month and which includes two old, small harbour jetties.
The colours and textures of rust are always attractive to me and in this location they also reflect the colours and textures of the surrounding rocks and lichens.
So far as I can tell these small ports are not used any more, although each of them still has a locked boathouse and I suspect that in spite of the dilapidated condition of some of the iron, those rings and bollards would still their job well enough.
Certainly, other people pass by this way on the small, meandering coastal footpath – and they have been creative in their collection of some of the flotsam.
Striking.
I didn’t thing of striking them lol. I wonder what they would have sounded like.
What a fabulous collection of rusty things.
Thank you. Nothing like a bit of rust on old metal
They are attractive, Alastair.
