Progressing with my walk this week at Llyn Llech Owain Country Park in Carmarthenshire, we moved away from the lakeside (llyn) and into the forest where we found a host of little figures like the one above. The land was originally planted as commercial woodland but it was not very long before it was realised the the ground here was not at all suitable for this purpose and in 2000 it was opened as a country park with the aid of millennium funding.
The “figures” in the forest are simply the remains of small tree stumps. Often covered in thick moss and /or ivy they can take on the appearance of a Lilliputian beings.
