Once up on top of Mynydd Llangorse the footpath to follow was quite clear across the moorland on my StillWalks production walk above Cwmdu, which lies between the Brecon Beacons and The Black Mountains in Wales.
There were other people about – a couple of couples passed by and a group of hikers who were camping down by Llangorse Lake. Not so many people to stop me having the place to myself for a lay back on an outcrop of rock in the middle of this beautiful expanse of moorland on top of the hills.
This was an opportunity to catch my breath and soak up the atmosphere. As this was a production walk for StillWalks, I had all my kit with me and knowing how tiring it can be carrying everything, and how much time production can add to what would normally be a relatively short walk, I had planned two possible routes to follow. It was at this point on the walk that I confirmed with myself that it would have to be the shorter route that I would take as time was running out for me to return to the starting point at the agreed time.
The time had been agreed with my daughter who was taking part in a spinning workshop in the valley below where I had started out and would need to return to by 4.30pm.
