Over the next six weeks “My Walk this Week” will be describing selected walks I have taken in the past. For this week I am looking back at a walk I called Ditch Hikers Walk and produced as a StillWalks video. The walk is located at Skanda Vale in Carmarthenshire and does not feature an elephant, Continue reading

Watching the Waves and Reviewing the Walk
I had expected this to the starting point of my walk this week – watching the waves on Pagham Beach on the south coast of England. However, by the time I was ready to set off I realised that I would be walking into the sun and that it might be helpful to walk the intended route in the other direction.Continue reading
Hole in the Wall – A Gift to My Eye
This hole in the wall, found along my walk this week around Pagham Harbour Nature Reserve and shore, was a gift to my eye. Rust, decay, nature taking over – all things enjoyable to me to see.Continue reading
My Walk this Week – South Coast (UK)
My walk this week is on the south coast of England at a place called Pagham. As a location for a StillWalks production walk, I picked it out from aerial views of the place courtesy of Google Maps and Google Earth. It helped that I already had some knowledge of the south coast, though to be fair, some of that comes from BBC programmes like Spring Watch.Continue reading
Lakeside Woodland Wander – Reviewing the Walk
Reviewing the walk this week I looked across the valley to the lakeside woodland through which I wandered in order to collect materials for my natural weaving project on the Get Creative weekend at The Waterside-Felindre.Continue reading
Natural Materials
Having found natural materials to construct and weave with in the lakeside woodland of The Waterside-Felindre, I only had time over the Get Creative weekend to make a start on this outdoor weaving. Hopefully it is sturdy enough to withstand the attentions of the alpacas and open enough to allow the wind through – at least until the next time I am able to work on it.Continue reading
Woodland Wandering
Woodland wandering on my walk this week at The Waterside-Felindre was like doing some “forest bathing”. This is something I have been aware of for some time now but the term is not one that I like very much – to me it sounds a little bit corny (no offence intended to forest bathers, or tree huggers for that matter). Whatever the name given, there is no doubt in my mind about the benefits of walking in woodland but I can imagine it would not suit everybody.Continue reading
My Walk this Week – Waterside Woodland
My walk this week is another waterside woodland walk. More specifically, this walk was one with a different purpose to my usual health and wellbeing and observation walks. Visual and aural observation was certainly a part of it as I was looking for potential natural material for a weaving frame. The woodland in question is at The Waterside-Felindre, a place I have presented on this blog on a few occasions, though I hope always in a different way or showing different aspects of the place.Continue reading
