My walk this week was more of a lazy wander. The warm sunshine and the relaxed atmosphere at the Welsh Valley Alpacas Open Day prompted a meander more than a walk and that is what we did (see the two previous posts for this week).
Returning from the top of the valley at The Waterside – Felindre we first met some of the male alpacas with their new shorn hair-dos. Then, sitting on a perfectly placed bench, I soaked up the atmosphere and photographed (yet again) one of my favourite wildflowers, the ribwort. It’s perhaps not the most obvious wildflower to enjoy as much as I do, but they hold strong memories of hot summer days as a child and playing with them with my brother and sisters.
Looking through the new green bracken and across the valley I listened to the bees buzzing the and the birds chirping and thought, “Bliss!”

Absolutely glorious walk through the Welsh Valley, Alastair. The ribwort and your love and memory for it, the soundscape of the summer-singing birds, the flow of water and the footsteps, all took us closely alongside. I heard what I think was a pheasant, just about one minute into the recording. Truly lovely, thank you.
