The local lichen on the rocks along the shore where we stayed in Scotland recently, seems to me to capture the spirit of the place (tough and hairy!?!). Then there is also the hawthorn and the things people do with stones on the beach and the patterns in rocks and the waves coming in gently on the flat sand or the wind blowing more often than not.
I cannot think of another place that does the same for me as this place – but everywhere is different, and everywhere is different all of the time and I guess we enjoy the places we know as much for the associations and memories they provide us with as the surroundings themselves.
I love the details of those photos and how through a few shot you seem to have capture some of the essence of the place. I’ve never been there but I feel like I’ve been offered a glimpse of what it’s like.
Thank you Allysse. I’m glad it is doing it for you. There’s more to come over the next couple of weeks.
