On my walk this week I was again alone on the track – but that’s not me in the image, just a lonely tuft of grass. I wasn’t lonely on this walk near Skanda Vale in the countryside of Carmarthenshire, just alone – and for the purposes of StillWalks production, photography and field recording, being alone is generally preferable. Woodland wandering on my walk this week at The Waterside-Felindre was like doing some “forest bathing”. This is something I have been aware of for some time now but the term is not one that I like very much – to me it sounds a little bit corny (no offence intended to forest bathers, or tree huggers for that matter). Whatever the name given, there is no doubt in my mind about the benefits of walking in woodland but I can imagine it would not suit everybody.Continue reading
At the end of my walk this week at Llyn Llech Owain country park in Carmarthenshire we exited on the same route we had entered the park and “tunnelled’ our way out. This is not a requirement of the place as there are many different routes around the lake and woodland to choose from.Continue reading

Rising to higher ground on my woodland walk this week I found much moss. Covering this birch to the height it does made me thing of those fleecy chaps you used to see in cowboy films – of course they were not green but all the same . . .
