My Walk this Week 224 – Away with Peace and the Birds
My walk this week comes from Scotland and it is not so much a walk as a simple record of the stillness, peace and quiet we have been experiencing in this first week away.
Three short iPhone videos tell the story – listen out for the cries of curlews in the evening – there is nothing else like them.
Post and all videos/images created on my phone.
My Walk this Week 178 – Scottish Woodland
My walk this week is another from Scotland where I took a stroll through woodland on the edge of Gatehouse of Fleet. Starting from the banks of the river Fleet, I enjoyed the familiar footpath as I twisted and turned in a loop, looking at my surroundings with a strong green cast to the light.
It is a peaceful part of the country and while there is an inevitable background of man-made sound, the ambience of the forest was more noticeable with its birds and flowing water, a gentle breeze in the trees and just the occasional sound of other people in the area.Continue reading
My Walk this Week 176 – Edging Along Land and Sea

I set out along the country lanes of the south west Scottish coast, enjoying the backdrop of the Galloway hills and the textural details of the verges. From a broad beach, empty except for myself and a solitary crow, Continue reading
Carrick Shore – Reviewing the Walk
Reviewing my fifth of six walks from the past looks back to 2009 and photographs I took on my old Fuji compact camera and the sounds I recorded at the time. The sunset above is a classic of the place and is the view from the place we stay at different times each year. It is the most peaceful, quiet, environmentally friendly place you could want, but also one that, due to nature and the elements, can provide spectacular drama as well – it is “High Tide”.Continue reading
Dark Skies and Sunsets
The photographs in my posts for my walk this week from the past (2009) were taken on my old Fuji compact camera – they are not monochrome as such but the camera has a “chrome” setting on it which in the high contrast light conditions that these photos were taken, gave a quite interesting and dramatic effect. Continue reading
Monochrome Murray’s Isles
This fifth of my walks from the past (2009) features today on the view across the bay from where we stay for a couple of weeks at different times each year. Continue reading
My Walk this Week, Past Walks 5 – Galloway Coastal
My walk this week is from 2009 and is perhaps less of a walk than usual as I have focused more on the main features of this coastal walk than on the features along the route. Continue reading
